The ideal applicant will demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit through a unique recently- or soon-to-be introduced product or service that will have the ability to sustain long-term growth for the company, increase local employment and assist in the creation of economic prosperity within the region.

Join your community in a new type of conference that builds momentum and opportunity around entrepreneurship, led by entrepreneurs and hosted in the entrepreneurial spaces you love. Startup Week is a reflection of your hard work and your community’s unique entrepreneurial identity.
Black/Brown founders receive only 1% of VC investments but returns for those that did invest in diverse teams see above average returns yet the stigma still lives that to support minority is more a charitable cause that a good financial case. Even if they somehow raise funding, the services that exist are typically offered by providers who, because they typically aren’t of the same national heritage, are unable to relate to the founder’s unique needs. The business coaches, marketing specialist, accountants, lawyers all must be someone to whom the founder can connect. We’ve created brave space for that end-to-end support to occur, with qualitative consistency and quantitative scalability.

Our team supports entrepreneurial endeavors in the Dayton region. We are working to increase access to capital for our local startups and small businesses so they will thrive in our city. The Kiva Dayton team includes several local startup ecosystem advocates, including fellow entrepreneurs, small business counselors, economic development professionals, mentors, professional service providers, and more.

Early Risers Academy is designed for aspiring founders in any industry. We’re particularly excited to work with more women and minority founders.
Participants will complete Kauffman FastTrac coursework from the nationally-renowned Kauffman Foundation, receive pitch coaching and hands-on mentoring, weekly discussions with successful entrepreneurs and experts, & access to Dayton’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. One founder in each cohort will win $1K.
These workshops can also be valuable for founders early in their small business journey, or who jumped right into their business without formally developing the plans behind it and are now discovering they need some of that paperwork in place to grow.
