10XTS has launched an SEC registered regulation crowdfunding campaign via Wunderfund, a FINRA registered crowdfunding portal platform also based in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The purpose of the campaign is to raise an additional funding round for the company, but to also launch the 10XTS flagship product, XDEX, a blockchain-based platform for early stage and small business capitalization table management and documentation system.

While initial coin offerings have become very popular, raising over $13 billion by the end of June, the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission has continued to regulate with a heavy hand. Having recently appeared on Capitol Hill at the Congressional Round Table event, “Legislating Certainty for Cryptocurrencies”, 10XTS CEO, Michael Hiles, commented,
“There’s a delta between what is required from a regulatory compliance standpoint to just put basic very simple capital into place to prove an idea. I think that that’s why there’s a lot of flight offshore from a capital standpoint. Where are we going to be at when we deny American investors the capital appreciation opportunity here in the United States?”
XDEX is a blockchain platform for early stage capital market participants including small businesses & startups, investors, early stage venture capital funds, broker dealers, legal and accounting services, and even government regulatory authorities.
One of the high growth areas for blockchain is Securities Tokens, which are blockchain tokens pegged to underlying traditional, regulated securities. While securities tokens might be a new term, the concept of uncertificated shares is not a new idea, in fact it has been en vogue since the advent of the spreadsheet. XDEX moves the capitalization table tracking shares and shareholders from the silo of the traditional spreadsheet to a distributed blockchain ledger environment.
Regulation crowdfunding was passed into law in 2012 under the Title III JOBS Act, which allows a company to sell securities to unaccredited, public investors through a procedural filing with the SEC. Companies may raise up to $1,070,000 in an offering in a single calendar year.
As an example to the market, 10XTS has replaced their own traditional spreadsheet capitalization table with the XDEX ledger. There are share tokens on the blockchain that represent each share of 10XTS stock. Having already raised a round of private capital from accredited investors through a placement earlier in 2018, 10XTS is now expanding their shareholder base to unaccredited investors through the crowdfunding campaign. 10XTS believes they will be the first company in the world to have both accredited and unaccredited investor shareholders who own regulatory-compliant shares designated by tokens on a distributed ledger blockchain.
Hiles states,
“This is the first step towards evolving early stage funding markets towards a blockchain token-based system. In the future, we expect all corporate shares to eventually be tokenized on a ledger system like XDEX.”

You’ve probably heard it thrown around in techy conversations–Blockchain. It’s been described as the be-all end-all of tech but most people know it as one thing, Bitcoin.
At this month’s Startup Grind Dayton, you can FINALLY understand just “WTF is Blockchain Anyway” with monthly guest, Michael Hiles. Michael is a business executive with multiple startup and early stage company experience.
He was a founding member and CIO of the board for Lender’s Investment Group where he created the actuarial financial algorithms and information management strategy to help enable the insurance company to obtain funding. Later he founded SoftLynx Interactive, one of the first web development companies in Cincinnati that merged with Reach Publishing, one of the nation’s largest direct mail marketing companies.
Michael is a Smithsonian Award winner, has acted as an information architect, turnaround strategist, digital strategy adviser and consultant, working with small businesses to mid-market clients to create and implement business development strategies.
In 2016, Michael launched the Cincinnati chapter of Founder Institute, the local operation for the Silicon Valley-based global accelerator founded by Adeo Ressi. In two years, the local accelerator has launched 21 companies with pre-money valuations of $1 million each.
Early in 2017, he formalized the team and launched 10XTS, a blockchain development company. Michael frequently speaks at blockchain and digital marketing events and conferences. He also consults with early and growth stage companies to help ownership teams define target markets, package their value proposition, and develop accelerated market development strategies.
Join Dayton’s startup community for this lunchtime event on Monday, August 20th. The event is $10 and includes lunch. Registration is available here: https://www.startupgrind.com/events/details/startup-grind-dayton-presents-wtf-is-blockchain-anyway-featuring-michael-hiles-of-10xts#/

TEDxDayton spreads ideas and perspectives to spark conversation and connections in the community. The locally organized event uses TED’s celebrated format of short, carefully prepared talks, demonstrations and performances that foster learning, inspiration, curiosity and wonder while also prompting conversations that matter.
To find this year’s presenters, organizers have issued a “Call for Speakers” on the TEDxDayton website, www.tedxdayton.com. Anyone with a big idea they want to share with the audience at the Victoria is invited to apply for consideration.
The theme for this year’s event is “SHIFT.”
“We chose a theme that reflects a new era for TEDxDayton,” said event Co-Chair John Owen. “We’ve had five strong years, and as we go into our next five, we’re looking for creative ways to change and improve the experience for the audience, while paying tribute to the ideas, speakers and spirit of the events we’ve had up till this year.”
“This year’s speakers will be helping us build upon five great years of sold-out TEDxDayton days that have seen the event become one of the most talked-about in town,” said event Co-Chair Ron Rollins. “We’re looking for people who know they have an idea worth sharing that will help the audience see and think of the world in a new and different way.”
“We look for speakers who can teach and inspire, and who will still have people talking as they leave the theater,” said Cory Owen, who is co-chairing this year’s speakers committee along with Brenden Wynn and Chelley Seibert. “Over the years, we’ve seen and heard some remarkable talks at the Victoria, and we look forward to providing this opportunity to a new class of speakers.”
Potential speakers should complete the speaker application on www.tedxdayton.com by March 30. The speakers committee will review all applications and invite selected candidates to auditions on May 5, 8 and 10. Participants will be notified within a few weeks of auditions if they have been selected to be a TEDxDayton 2018 speaker.
For questions about the application process, email Cory Owen at [email protected].

I traveled to Redwood City, California last week with the Startup Grind Dayton team to take in the two-day conference that featured the founders from names like Tesla, Reddit, Pocket, and Booking.com, plus investors from names like Andreesen Horowitz and Sequoia. So what did I learn? Here’s a recap, using our twitter feed:
Inspiration
The conference offered lots in the way of nuggets of inspiration on what it takes to be an entrepreneur. The most inspirational was a 13-year-old entrepreneur from Chicago whose cookie business Beyond the Cookie was founded in 2014 to fund summer coding camps for economically challenged and under-represented communities throughout Chicago.
Irrational persistence is the number one trait of an entrepreneur.

Ascend Innovations hopes to assist in the cancer treatment process. Formed by many hospitals within the Dayton area, Ascend hopes to create a “Community Cancer Assessment” to better treat and predict outcomes for patients.
Compiling data from the members of the Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association, specifically the nearly 14 million unique patient encounters, will help the “Community Cancer Assessment” come together. Data collected will include mortality rates, specific types of treatments, types of cancers, and many more unique factors. This data collected will shed light on how cancer affects our community as a whole.
This important tool will help to predict the outcome probabilities for patients. The assessment will be able to provide lifespans to individuals with specific cancers and similar risk factors. In addition, the assessment will inform the Scientific Advisory Council.
The Scientific Advisory Council Ascend plans to stand up will play a very important role in cancer research for the Dayton area. With the “Community Cancer Assessment”, the Scientific Advisory Council will play a role in informing decision makers responsible for allocating funding to the community. For example, if the Community Cancer Assessment revealed that breast cancer is the most prevalent form of cancer in Dayton, the Scientific Advisory Council may recommend funding more proposals related to breast cancer.
In order to help fund this project, the Gala of Hope pledged $150,000 to Ascend to complete the community assessment. The Gala of Hope is a philanthropic organization that hopes to assist in the finding of the cure to cancer.
The goal for project completion is by the end of this year.
Ascend hopes to further its research to solve many other issues, such as the opioid epidemic. To learn more about Ascend, visit their website at http://ascend-innovations.com.
